Linnansaari

Linnansaari National Park in the middle of Lake Haukivesi, a part of the Saimaa water system, presents Finnish lake nature at its best. With hundreds of islands and wide open waters it is a paradise for boaters. The national park is perfect for day trips as well as for longer camping and boating trips.

The Linnansaari National Park was established to protect the valuable archipelago and the unspoiled scenery. The multitude of islands shelters the most famous inhabitant of Linnansaari, the Saimaa ringed seal. The area also has one of Finland's densest populations of the osprey. The fully restored Linnansaari Croft allows visitors to see how people lived in the old times. The traditionally kept surroundings of the croft also show a patch of land treated with the age-old slash-and-burn method.
